Join us in welcoming Bernardinho, Brazil's setter for the Brazilian National Volleyball team in the 80’s.
Bernardinho's career spanned from 1979 to 1986, with significant wins such as the bronze medal in the World Cup in 1981, and the silver in the World Games in Argentina in 1982 and the silver at the Olympic Games in 1984.
Bernardinho coached the women’s Brazilian National team, who were vice-champions in 1994, that same year they also won the Grand Prix, bronze medal at the Olympics in 1996, and the bronze medal in the Sidney.
For the men’s team, besides the nine titles of the World League, he was the coach for the Champions of the World Cup in 2003, of the Olympic games in 2004 and the World Championships in 2006.
On 21 August of 2016 he was the Coach for Brasil’s male volleyball team which won the gold medal in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, in a 3 to 0 victory over Italy at the Maracanãzinho stadium.
Bernardinho has one of the most complete resumes of any Brazilian athlete, and now is a motivational speaker. Bernardinho is married to the former volleyball player, Fernanda Venturini, they have two daughters and one son.
